Caroline walked quietly through the park, the moon high above her. It cast its glow down upon the trees and threw shadows across the park. It was midnight, her favorite time of night. Having just got off her shift at the hospital, she was still dressed in the hospital blue scrubs, her hair pulled back into a ponytail. Reaching back, she grabbed the hair tie and released a torrent of blonde hair to spill down on her shoulders. Shaking it out, she began to stripe from her clothes.
In seconds a red fox stood where the woman had before. Shaking herself out, Caroline crinkled her nose and blinked a few times, adjusting to the new sights, smells, and noises. Grabbing her clothes in her teeth, she tossed them into a bush and trotted off across the park. In Los Angeles, this was the best she could get as far as nature. The nearest wood was miles away, and she lived right by the park. It was closer and easier.
Sitting underneath a tree, Caroline enjoyed just listening to the other animals, and smelling the scents. Everything smelled so much richer when she was a fox. Things were stronger, more pure, and easier to discern. Her hearing was ten fold better, and she loved being able to concentrate and hear different sounds, big or small. One could guess that Caroline just loved to be a shifter in general.

It was late by the time he'd left work, as was usual when he worked the night shift. He preferred working at night, though. He always made more money. Tonight there had been multiple hands reaching to shove dollar bills into the hot pink Speedo he'd had to wear, and was still wearing beneath his clothes. He'd been too lazy to change into boxers after his shift, figuring it would just be easier to strip down to nothing at home and crawl into bed. His parents were probably already asleep so he'd have to be quiet going into the house. He didn't want to wake them up, they wouldn't appreciate that. It was rare that he ever got yelled at, had been that way all his life, but a sure way to get into an argument with his mother and father would be to wake them up in the middle of the night by being too loud coming through the door.
The young man chuckled, stretching his arms above his head and humming as he turned toward the park. He always took the trail through the park as a short cut to get home. Probably not the safest thing to do at night, especially in LA, but Oliver wasn't scared. He'd taken karate classes and gotten his black belt and he used to do boxing at the gym before he got his job as a stripper, so he knew how to defend himself. But he also knew humans weren't the only creatures calling this town home. He might be one of the few humans that knew of the existence of demons and angels and vampires and shifters, but that information was kind of difficult to ignore when one of your best friends shifted into a unicorn and your other best friend was an angel. He smiled to himself, shaking his head, remembering the first them they had told him what they were, how he'd freaked out and screamed like a little girl but then realized how cool it was and nearly got his ass kicked when he'd asked Harmony if he could get a ride.
Ah, good times, he thought to himself, looking around at the trees and the sky. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until he happened upon a small figure sitting beneath one of the trees, looking serene and completely at home. He stopped walking, tilting his head to the side, trying to figure out what animal it was. He realized seconds later that it was a fox, but was it a real fox or a Shifter fox? "Hey, foxy, you human?" he called out, his voice curious.
